ABOUT US.

Jim began his professional career advising candidates for Pennsylvania House and Senate races and went on to lead gubernatorial and Attorney General campaigns.  He has an acute understanding of campaign strategy using data to model and inform decisions.   

He spent a decade in the Pennsylvania Senate, in senior staff roles, advising members and serving as Chief of Staff to the Majority Whip.   He collaborated with subject matter experts to formulate policy for the caucus, forged consensus on complicated issues, was a respected source for issue development and negotiated numerous pieces of complicated legislation  

Following his service to the Commonwealth, he embarked on a career in the private sector as an entrepreneur and corporate advisor.   He previously served in a senior role for a nationwide telecommunications company where he developed and implemented marketing and public affairs strategies in support of their application solutions products to state governments in Pennsylvania, New York, Ohio, Michigan and West Virginia. In his last public sector role, he was a Vice President with a fortune 30 global media and technology company where for twenty years he focused on educating the legislature and key administration personnel regarding the technology and developing new opportunities to move the company and industry forward. 

Jim capitalized on his legislative, political and private sector marketing experiences to form JMD Advisors where he advises a broad range of clients in various vertical markets throughout the US.  Key to his success is his ability to facilitate effective working relationships with public sector personnel in problem-solving meetings and implementing solutions based on his clients’ needs. His keen understanding of legislative process, procedures and general administrative and regulatory functions of state government enables him to expand his client’s role as a trusted advisor.  His 40+ years of Pennsylvania political and corporate experience provides him with deep-seated knowledge, which together with an innate capacity to filter rhetoric and solid integrity makes him an asset to his clients.   

Jim serves on the boards of several business organizations; including PCN (Pennsylvania Cable Network) and the Pennsylvania Chamber of Business and Industry and is currently the chair of the Government Affairs Roundtable. 

Additionally, he serves in an advisory role with 123 Compliant Logistics, a reverse pharmaceutical distribution company, working with the executive team to build business partnerships in this heavily regulated environment.
